Holes 2 & 11

A super driving hole – straight and long.

There are many challenges on this gently sloping hole. Short or wayward drives bring many possible problems including trees, ditches and deep rough. The 11th tee requires a relatively long drive to get out of trouble. The road into Melrose runs the full right-hand side with a short length of deep rough and trees guarding it.

The approach shot to the large green cut into the hill is very inviting, although the hidden pot bunker and the open ditch in play to the left and back of the green makes accuracy vital.

Watch out for slopes on the green to challenge the best of putters. Separate tees for the 2nd and 11th holes bring the out-of-bounds more into play second time around; justifying the stroke index 4/5 rating.
